3mtr bridge: Dufftown, Moray and Scotland

Compact Bison Bridge Installed by A.C.T. Heritage Ltd in Dufftown

Project Overview

A.C.T. Heritage Ltd required a strong, low-maintenance pedestrian bridge to provide access across a watercourse at a rural site near Dufftown. The bridge needed to be durable, visually sympathetic to its surroundings, and quick to install – ideal conditions for a Bison modular bridge

Installation Highlights

Bison supplied a 3.0 metre span x 1.2 metre wide bridge, designed for rapid installation with long-term performance in mind.

The project began with the casting of concrete abutments on either side of the stream, providing a solid base for the new structure.

Next, long-life galvanised steel beams were laid across the abutments — a key structural feature that ensures strength and corrosion resistance for decades.

The bridge was finished with a timber deck featuring a non-slip surface for safety in all conditions, and timber parapets that blend seamlessly with the natural landscape.
