Off the Bridges and Onto the Boards: Bison’s Team Building Day at Adventure Sports

At Bison Bridges, we’re usually deep in the details of supplying quality bridges, boardwalks, and access structures to clients across the UK. But last week, we took a rare and well-earned break from bridge specs and site calls to focus on something just as essential — the people behind the projects.

We swapped spreadsheets and site maps for safety helmets of a different kind and headed to Adventure Sports in Warwick for a day of team building, challenges, and a fair bit of competitive spirit.

A Day Away From All Things Bridges

Taking time off from the everyday rhythm of work gave us a fresh perspective — and a few surprises along the way. From hovercrafts to high-stakes coordination, the day was a real test of teamwork, communication, and in some cases, aim!

The Day's Challenges

We kicked off with an activity line-up that had something for everyone — whether you liked speed, strategy, or a bit of a puzzle.

• Hovercraft racing – Steering? Optional. Confidence? Mandatory. Let's just say it wasn't about speed alone…
• Aqueduct construction – A test of improvised engineering using pipes, barrels, and teamwork under pressure.
• Colour-coded jungle crossing – Think giant stepping stones and fast decision-making.
• Blindfolded reverse buggy driving – Where one teammate drove blind and another shouted directions. It went about how you'd expect.
• The Cobweb – A life-sized web of rope holes we had to get through without touching the sides. Trickier than it sounds.

What We Took Away

While we didn’t bring home medals, the day gave us something more valuable — a reminder that great outcomes come from clear communication, trust, and a willingness to throw yourself in (sometimes literally). These are the same qualities that drive our work every day, whether we’re advising on a bespoke footbridge or coordinating the supply of long-life access solutions.

Back to Business

We’re now back at our desks — slightly sore, slightly more competitive, and definitely energised. A huge thanks to Steff, John and all the team at Adventure Sports Warwick for hosting us, and to everyone at Bison for diving into it headfirst.
